The registration fee covers the two-day education program (8:00-4:30).  Registrants will receive the training, the exam administration, a field guide, two breakfasts and two lunches.  You must register separately for the certification exam -- see here for details.

Course Objective & Overview

The course objective is to fully prepare participants for successfully achieving OASIS certification.

Certification requires a strong knowledge of OASIS with the ability to accurately interpret assessment data and complete the CMS OASIS item set in a compliant fashion.

This comprehensive, engaging and effective two-day course not only provides in-depth education on completion of the OASIS Items – It also provides the information necessary to accurately determine CMS OASIS requirements as outlined in the Guidance Manual, official Q&A documents, and the Conditions of Participation for Medicare certified Home Health agencies.

The following domains are covered by the preparation course:

  1. Medicare OASIS regulations and requirements -  10%
    1. Time point requirements for OASIS data collection
      1. Definitions and conventions for OASIS completion
  2. Application of OASIS data - 5%
    1. OASIS and quality outcomes/Star Ratings/Reimbursement
      1. OASIS correction policies
  3. OASIS Item and guidance application – 85%
    1. Patient tracking and history M-Items and GG-Items
      1. Clinical assessment M-Items
      2. Functional assessment M-Items and GG-Items
        1. Caregiving and living arrangement M-Items
        2. Process measure assessment M-Items
        3. Episode timing and therapy service M-Items
        4. Fall outcome measure J-Items

Every participant will receive an OASIS-D Field Guide.

The two-day course offers 13 nursing contact hours.
