2018 Martha Esposito Award: Faith F. Scott has been a leader in the home health care industry for more than 30 years. Her enthusiasm and determination has established the Visiting Nurse Association of Northern New Jersey (VNANNJ) as an organization where talented professionals, compassionate volunteers and generous donors come together to ensure the community has access to high-quality and comprehensive home care, hospice and caregiver support services. Because of her visionary leadership, VNANNJ’s 120-year long tradition of caring will continue far into the future.

When Faith joined the VNANNJ as President and CEO in 1990, the organization was nearly bankrupt. Faith’s leadership, combined with support from VNANNJ’s Board of Trustees and guidance from business partners, turned VNANNJ into a fiscally sound organization.

In 2009, Faith oversaw VNANNJ’s relocation from its historical headquarters to a larger building that better accommodates a growing workforce and patient needs.  A fully equipped Skills Lab was developed at VNANNJ’s headquarters. In 2017, Faith spearheaded the acquisition of VNANNJ of Saint Clare’s, which allowed the agency to expand its reach into Warren and Sussex counties.

Faith has established rewards performance based on clear measurables, shown in VNANNJ’s New Grad Nursing and Clinical Ladder programs, both of which she created. Her passion for higher education inspired a $1,000 scholarship awarded annually to the child of a VNANNJ employee to help cover education-related expenses.

Beyond the workplace, Faith serves on the boards of the Visiting Nurse Association of America (VNAA) and the Home Care & Hospice Association of NJ, among others. She has many professional affiliations, has written numerous articles for Caring Magazine and was a presenter at VNAA’s 2012 and 2015 Annual Meetings. In 2015, SmartCEO recognized Faith’s leadership by presenting her with a Brava Award, a program that celebrates female CEOs, nonprofit leaders and high impact executives. And in 2017, the Morris County Chamber of Commerce recognized Faith as an Exemplary Leader.

Faith received a B.S.N. from Boston College, a M.P.H. from Columbia University and an M.B.A. from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. She is also a Fellow with the American College of Healthcare Executives. Prior to joining VNANNJ, Faith served as an Associate Director of Professional Services for Visiting Health Services of New Jersey and Director of Englewood Hospital Home Health Services.
